ALGAESYS "Silver" at MERLIN Innovation Awards 2025

ALGAESYS was honoured to be a finalist in the MERLIN Innovation Awards 2025, an event that showcased groundbreaking innovations for freshwater restoration. We were amongst a diverse selection of amazing finalists and, following our final pitches and voting by the esteemed expert panel, ALGAESYS secured second place! 🥈

It was an incredible opportunity to present our approach, which harnesses the power of naturally occurring colonised phototrophic biomass to recover precious water resources. Our highly efficient & cost-effective nature-based process contributes to the regeneration of freshwater ecosystems, ensuring long-term sustainability.

ALGAESYS promotes local circular economies by recovering wastewater for reuse in industry and agriculture.
We were inspired and amazed by the other products and services on display at the event! These included:

• 2025 Winners, Wasser 3.0 gGmbH – creating solutions for detecting, removing and recycling microplastics from water;

• BeadaMoss – producing Sphagnum moss for peatland restoration sustainably;

• ReedBirds – a bio-composite which is an alternative to wood in industrial production, reducing deforestation;

• Waterly – reimagining water quality data management, simplifying reporting and improving resource management.
